See below the different options.
If you want to know what one, maybe a few, of your items are worth this one is for you. If it is an antique (over 100 years old) or vintage (at least 20 years old) then I can help. See the steps below:

I have been to many houses full to the brim with with antiques, vintage items and collectables. And, I have met many people who need the lot moving on quickly.
This is where I can help. I offer a house & collection clearance service.
This is not your typical house clearance option, where you are charged a high fee and the clearance company take all your items. I look at it through the eye of an antiques dealer, in most cases I will make you an offer rather than charge you.
Ideal for:

The difference with me (Kieran Hughes-Jones of Taliesin Antiques) is that I put myself out there. I am not an antiques dealer who hides in the shadows, I present myself openly for people to make their own judgement. You can visit my YouTube Channel and see for yourself.
Feel free to email me today at kieran@taliesinantiques.com if you have any questions before using my services.
Why do you charge £25?
Accurate valuations takes time, research, and experience. Free valuations are usually designed to lead you into selling - this isn’t that.
Can you value everything in a house?
Yes - but large jobs are quoted based on scale.
Do I have to sell through you?
No. Completely independent.
Can you visit in person?
Yes, for larger collections or probate cases.
Is this suitable for probate?
Yes - valuations are based on real market value, which is what matters in estate reporting.
Terms of Service
1. Our services
We provide a range of antiques-related services, including:
Unless expressly stated otherwise in writing, any valuation we provide is a professional opinion based on the material available at the time. It is not a guarantee of sale price, auction result, or future market performance.
2. Online valuations
Our standard online valuation service is based on the photographs, measurements, condition details, provenance, and other information you provide.
This service is intended to give you a written opinion on identification and likely market value. It is not an insurance valuation, probate valuation, or formal expert report unless we separately agree that service in writing.
3. Probate, insurance, and formal written valuations
Where we agree to provide a probate, estate, insurance, or other formal written valuation, the basis and purpose of that valuation will be stated in writing.
For probate work, valuations are prepared on an open market basis at the relevant date, typically the date of death, rather than on an insurance or replacement basis. This reflects the basis used by HMRC for inheritance tax reporting.
You are responsible for ensuring that the service you select is suitable for your needs. If you are unsure whether you need an online opinion, a probate valuation, or an insurance valuation, you should ask before ordering.
4. How valuations are formed
Valuations may be based on a combination of paid sold-price databases, trade records, public auction results, comparable market evidence, specialist reference works, and professional judgement.
Where useful, we may state assumptions or limitations. A valuation reflects the evidence reasonably available at the time and may change as market conditions change.
5. Your responsibilities
You must provide accurate and complete information, including clear images, dimensions, known condition issues, repairs, alterations, signatures, marks, labels, and any provenance or history available to you.
If material information is missing, unclear, or inaccurate, this may affect the valuation. We are entitled to rely on the information you provide unless we have reason to doubt it.
6. Limits of online and remote assessment
An online or photo-based valuation cannot replace physical inspection, laboratory testing, or specialist scientific analysis.
Where a piece appears to require hands-on examination, destructive or non-destructive testing, or review by a more specialised expert, we may say so. In those cases, any opinion given should be treated as provisional unless and until further examination takes place.
7. Whole house, collection, and on-site services
For whole house, collection, probate, or other on-site services, scope, fees, location, and timing will be agreed in writing before work begins.
Where appropriate, we may provide an initial assessment based on photographs before agreeing to a visit. Any quote or estimate may be revised if the actual scale, condition, volume, or nature of the contents materially differs from what was originally described.
8. House clearance and contents disposal
Where we agree to assist with house clearance, collection clearance, or contents disposal, our role may include identifying items of value, making purchase offers, arranging removal, or coordinating third-party clearance or disposal services.
Unless expressly agreed in writing, we do not guarantee to purchase all items, remove all contents, or clear a property by a fixed date.
Where waste or unwanted contents are transported, brokered, or disposed of, this may be subject to waste-carrier, broker, dealer, and duty-of-care requirements under UK law. If clearance or disposal is carried out by a third party, that party may need appropriate registration or authorisation.
9. Offers to buy items
If we make an offer to buy one or more items from you, that offer is separate from any valuation service unless we state otherwise.
A valuation is an opinion of likely market value. It is not an obligation on us to purchase, and any purchase offer may be higher or lower than a valuation figure depending on condition, risk, saleability, storage, transport, restoration needs, and current demand.
Title to any item sold to us passes only when payment has cleared and the item has been physically collected or otherwise transferred as agreed.
10. Fees and payment
Fees for online valuations, written reports, visits, and other services will be stated before the order is accepted.
Unless we agree otherwise, payment is due in advance for online valuations and may be required in advance, in stages, or on completion for other services.
If we cannot reasonably provide a valuation from the material supplied, we may ask for better information, offer an alternative service, or refund the fee for that item.
11. Cancellation and consumer rights
If you are a consumer purchasing online or at a distance, you will usually have 14 days from the day the contract is made to cancel a service contract.
If you ask us to start work during that 14-day period, you agree that:
These rights apply in addition to your statutory rights.
12. Standard of service
We will carry out our services with reasonable care and skill, as required by the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If we fail to do so, you may have legal remedies, which can include repeat performance or a price reduction depending on the circumstances.
13. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death, or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Subject to that, and to the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from any individual valuation or service claim will be limited to the amount you paid for that specific service.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of opportunity, or loss arising from market fluctuations, later expert disagreement, auction outcomes, buyer behaviour, or information supplied inaccurately or incompletely by you.
14. Legal and regulatory compliance
We may refuse to value, purchase, handle, market, or assist with the disposal of any item where we believe doing so may breach the law or expose us to legal or regulatory risk.
This includes, by way of example, items subject to ivory restrictions, cultural property concerns, sanctions, prohibited materials, stolen goods concerns, or waste-disposal requirements. In relation to ivory, dealing in an item may require registration or exemption under the Ivory Act 2018.
15. Complaints and ADR
If you have a complaint, please contact us first using the contact details on our website and we will try to resolve it promptly.
If we cannot resolve the complaint internally, we will provide you with information about an appropriate certified Alternative Dispute Resolution provider and state whether or not we are willing to use that provider, as required by UK ADR rules.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, unless applicable consumer law provides otherwise.
